U.S. photographer Robert Knight captured wild seas and sculpted off the island of South Georgia in the ocean around Antarctica.

Knight said he spotted the scene from afar as a storm approached. He was navigating seas filled with icebergs calved from glaciers on South Georgia, a British territory located about 800 miles (1,287 kilometers) from Antarctica.

“From our boat one day we saw a beautiful formation of cyan blue pinnacles and ridges,” Knight recalled in a statement. “The challenge was to capture something of the beauty and wildness of the scene, while waves buffeted the boat and spray covered me.”
