Bali Corals "Jolted" Back to Life

Diving instructor Chris Brown established the Reef Gardeners, a group of local villagers trained in coral reef maintenance.
The cables from the solar panels feed low-voltage electricity to metal structures in shape of domes or greenhouses submerged in the bay.
The energy helps the weakened coral to grow.
The program is part of a wider effort to save the coral, which has been damaged by rising sea temperatures and harmful fishing techniques.
But funding has been a problem: only a third of the hundred cables that have been installed are working due to maintenance difficulties, Rani Morrow-Wuigk, an Australian-German who supports the project, told the Associated Press news agency.
